The software is capable of destroying files completely, by overwriting them with random data multiple times. You can also use this utility to locate and shred duplicate files, temporary Internet or system data and other files which may compromise your privacy.

abylon SHREDDER is free to try for 30 days, but without any other limitations. It can be installed in just a few seconds, on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 and it provides support for both 32 and 64-bit operating systems. The software can be used without installing any prerequisite tools and it doesn't ask for too many resources.

The user interface has a simple and efficient layout and its controls are very easy to understand. The supported operations are categorized in a tree structure, on the left side of the window and the options for preparing them are displayed in the larger area on the right. Selecting a parent folder, in the tree structure, will display a slider, which can be used to increase or decrease the wipe level, for the operations within that folder. If you set the lowest wipe level, the program will only delete files. With a higher wipe level, abylon SHREDDER can perform up to 35 overwriting passes.

By default, the program will give you access to three utilities, for shredding any files or folders on the hard drive, locating duplicates and for shredding Internet tracks. When shredding files, you can target individual files or entire folders. To locate duplicates, you only need to select two or more folders, with a single browsing option. The Internet tracks wiper can be used to shred various temporary files, left behind by Internet Explorer and by the system itself.

Additional tools can be made available by clicking a shield icon, in the upper right corner of the interface. Besides the aforementioned operations, you can also wipe the free space on the hard drive, shred the recycle bin's contents, temp folders and temp files with specific extensions and more. The software allows you to prepare and run these operations separately or in a single run. abylon SHREDDER's background cleaner is another useful feature, which is definitely worth mentioning. If you activate it, the program will automatically clean up temp files, recycle bin contents and other junk data, on user-defined intervals.
